A study coauthored by Leeds professor Tony Tong discovered that too much openness in digital platforms—especially to partners with highly similar products or services—may in fact dampen innovation and entrepreneurial activities.

In its second year in a virtual setting, the New Venture Challenge, CU ����Vlog�ƽ��’s premier entrepreneurial startup program and competition, dazzled with high energy and even higher-flying ideas curated by students vying for their share of $150K in prize money.

The Startup Colorado Network, an online tool for small business owners launched by CU ����Vlog�ƽ��'s Silicon Flatirons in 2020, connects rural entrepreneurs with business resources, as well as fellow business owners, mentors and funders.

Founded in 2017, LongPath Technologies, Inc. is the first company to leverage Nobel prize winning long-range frequency comb laser sources to achieve dramatic cost reductions for continuous emissions monitoring.

“In the future, we want to be able to power your wearable electronics without having to include a battery,” said Jianliang Xiao, senior author of the new paper and an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at CU ����Vlog�ƽ��.

Born out of CU ����Vlog�ƽ��, StrideTech was founded with a mission to reduce the fall risk of seniors who use walkers. The startup has created a technology embedded walker attachment that provides real-time haptic feedback when incorrect walker use is detected.

Diseases of the blood have traditionally taken a full day, tedious lab work and expensive equipment to diagnose, but researchers at CU ����Vlog�ƽ�� and CU Anschutz have developed a way to diagnose these conditions with greater sensitivity and precision in only one minute.

Incoming Buffs moving to campus this week will be among the first to access a new 45-minute COVID-19 test aimed at identifying asymptomatic individuals before they can spread the virus. The new test is just the first step in a unique, multi-pronged campus surveillance program.

The three-day entrepreneurial academy, which will be held in fall 2020, will train eight rural entrepreneurs and leaders from the Startup Colorado network to become policy advocates and help them realize their ability to provide direct input to local, state and federal policymakers.
