Destination Startup®Ìýis a collaboration among leading research universities and federal laboratories across the Intermountain West region to showcase the best companies from our innovation ecosystem.ÌýCome and check out 28 deep tech startups that have spun out of internationally-recognized institutions.

The 2022 showcase isÌýa "hybrid" event, with companies presenting virtually OR in-person - with a liveÌýQ&A - over two days.ÌýRegistration is still open to join in-person or virtually; both are free!

Each year, New Venture Challenge hosts special competitions prior to the main NVC event for ventures to earn additional funding for their unique ideas. This year, NVC is hosting three special competitions:Ìý

• Climate Competition - For ventures with a focus on addressing climate change
• Female Founder Competition - For ventures with at least one female founder with a valid BuffOne Card
• Cross Campus Competition - For ventures that have at least two core team members from two different CU ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ collegesÌý

Ventures already competing in NVC can also register for one special competition, and special competition entrants do not have to participate in the main NVC event.

Venture Partners at CU ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ andÌýÌýare proud to present an Entrepreneurs Unplugged event with featured entrepreneur,Ìý, CEO of Solid Power.

Ìýis a CU ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æÌýspinout with itsÌýcore technologies founded in campus labs. In its early days, Solid Power earned investments from prominent companies including Hyundai, Volta Energy Technologies, Umicore, Sanoh, A123 SystemsÌýand Solvay. Today, Solid Power has extensive partnerships with BMW, Ford and SK Innovation. Solid Power went public in December 2021.

CampbellÌýwill discussÌýhis startup experience, how successful startups are created—as well as pitfalls—in an engaging interview format. This hybrid event will accommodate remote participation via Zoom. Speakers will be hosted in-person, and attendees are welcome to join live, followingÌýCOVID-19 restrictions.

Colorado has one of the most vibrant startup ecosystems anywhere, but it hasn’t always been this way. This is no time for Colorado to rest on its laurels either, as the national and global startup environment is rapidly changing. Early stage startup ecosystems need to build the basics, such as access to capital, syndication networks, great universities, top quality talent, mentor pools, federal labs, active economic development groups that don’t just focus on real estate, and up-to-date thought leadership (and unicorns and an exit or two from the community doesn’t hurt much either).
