Colleagues and friends,

I’m pleased to present you with this collection of highlights from the ����Vlog�ƽ��’s research and creative work in 2018–19.

This year’s stories—a cross-section of the trailblazing research, scholarship 

and creative work taking place across CU ����Vlog�ƽ��— are as innovative and fascinating as ever. In the following pages, you’ll learn about our contributions to the largest Central Arctic expedition ever, the first U.S. mission to return samples from an asteroid to Earth, and new hope in the battle against antibiotic-resistant “superbugs,” just to name a few.

And there’s another story that merits special attention this year.

I’m thrilled to announce that the university has again attracted a record amount of research funding, this year drawing an incredible $631 million. This marks the third year in a row the university has attracted more than half a billion dollars in research funding and represents a 23 percent increase over the previous year.

The story of this new research funding milestone wouldn’t be complete without calling attention to the people who make it all happen. From our globally renowned geosciences faculty and our Nobel laureates in the physical sciences, to our graduate students in aerospace engineering and the arts, our faculty, staff and students are the fuel that powers everything we accomplish together.

Here’s to another year of discovery, invention and collaboration to change our world for the better.
