Dear RES Tenants and Colleagues,
As we welcome warmer weather and the return of sunlight, the RES team has been working on several of our annual initiatives including setting budgets for the upcoming fiscal year, as well as the more exciting process of preparing and interviewing applicants for the RES Summer Internship program. The RES summer internship program started in 2018 and the opportunity is offered exclusively to students in the Leeds School of Business Real Estate degree programs. So far RES has employed three student interns, and the program has been proven to be a valuable and rewarding experience for past interns as well as RES staff. I personally am looking forward to gaining perspective into current trends and priorities from our summer intern, as well as providing career mentorship to a Real Estate Buff. Stay tuned for our next newsletter when we will introduce the 2024 RES intern.
RES is committed to supporting the campus Climate Action Plan (CAP). With the goal to reduce campus carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, and a clear path to zero emissions by no later than 2050. RES is reviewing concepts to upgrade and/or replace inefficient building systems in all RBS buildings. Future construction project scopes are still being developed and we encourage feedback from our building users as we start to embark on making improvements to our buildings that will reduce carbon emissions, ensuring CU ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ continues to thrive and sets the standard for sustainable energy practices in research and higher education facilities.
In other news, the RES team was recently at the UMC doing some team building and bowling. Turns out, I’m still not good at bowling but the rest of the RES team are impressive bowlers (let us know if you ever want to join us for some friendly competition). We had fun and I highly recommend checking out The Connection at the UMC for bowling, billiards, and other gaming experiences. Ìý
Happy Spring!
