Retaking a Class Eligible for Grade Replacement /registrar/2025/03/11/retaking-class-eligible-grade-replacement Retaking a Class Eligible for Grade Replacement Anonymous (not verified) Tue, 03/11/2025 - 13:14 Tags: Class Enrollment & Grading Student Announcements Targeted Office of the Registrar Who Received This Email?

We sent this email on Monday, March 10, 2025, to students who were enrolled in a Summer 2025 class that was evaluated as eligible for grade replacement.

Dear [first],

According to our records, you've enrolled to retake the same class or a direct equivalent of [Class] in Summer 2025. We've evaluated that this class is eligible for grade replacement.

Grade replacement is applied automatically at the end of each term for eligible courses and students. We’ll send you another email once grade replacement has been applied to your record (after grades have posted at the end of the semester).

Remember, the grade you earned in the most recent prior attempt will still appear on your transcript, but it will be replaced in your cumulative GPA and credit totals by the grade from your latest attempt as long as that grade is the same or better.

Repeating a Course Without Grade Replacement

If the course becomes ineligible for grade replacement, grade replacement ·É´Ç²Ô’t be applied and the grades from both attempts will be included in your cumulative and major GPAs, credit totals and academic standing. For example, if a lower grade is earned in the latest attempt, or if you withdraw or drop the class. Learn more about the eligibility requirements for grade replacement.

You may also repeat a course without grade replacement by submitting an opt-out request from your Colorado email to registrar@colorado.edu by the last day of the semester. Opting out of grade replacement is irreversible. Please meet with your advisor to discuss how opting out of grade replacement will impact your GPA and academic standing.

If you have any questions, please review our grade replacement webpage or contact us.

Financial Benefits of Becoming a Colorado Resident (Targeted Message) /registrar/2025/02/17/spring-2025-veteran-residency Financial Benefits of Becoming a Colorado Resident (Targeted Message) Linda Sprouse Wed, 02/19/2025 - 00:00 Tags: Residency Spring 2024 Student Announcements Targeted Office of the Registrar Who Received This Email?

We sent this email at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, to first-semester students who were approved for in-state tuition under the domicile exception for honorably discharged veterans.

Dear [first],

You have been approved for in-state tuition as an honorably discharged veteran. We want to thank you for your service and provide some information about the potential benefits of becoming a Colorado resident for tuition purposes.

Financial Benefits of Becoming a Resident

As an honorably discharged veteran, you’ll be assessed the in-state tuition rate as long as you remain at CU ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ. However, if you are 22 years old or older, married, or a graduate student, you can act now to become a full Colorado resident. Colorado residents are considered for state and CU ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ grants, which may significantly increase your financial aid offer.

Your Next Steps to Petition for a Residency Change

Step 1: Submit Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

If you do intend to become a Colorado resident and you haven't done so already, submit your and any requested documentation. Learn more about applying for aid.

Step 2: Take Action to Establish Colorado Domicile

The clock started ticking to establish Colorado domicile when you physically moved to the state. To prove your intent to make Colorado your one, true, fixed and permanent home, you're required to:

  • Get a Colorado driver's license within 120 days of moving to the state.
  • Register your vehicle (if you have one) in Colorado within 180 days of moving to the state to avoid penalties.
  • Establish additional Colorado ties. Visit our adult residency page to learn more.

Step 3: Submit a Residency Petition

Use the residency calendars to determine the first semester for which you'd qualify for in-state residency. Once petitions open for that term, submit your residency petition with all required documentation to the Office of the Registrar by the posted deadline.

To authorize third-party access to your non-directory information, see CU guest access and FERPA consent to release.

You may restrict the release of directory information by placing full privacy on your record. Please note that students on full privacy are treated the same as other students in instructional settings, including within physical and virtual classrooms. Their name, image and email address may appear on screen and in the learning management system, and instructors may call on them by name.
