Jennie joined OVA in August 2024 as the post-masters advocate counselor fellow. Originally from New England, Jennie received her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from American University and her master’s in social work from Columbia University.
Before joining OVA, Jennie began her clinical fieldwork at a middle and high school, where she provided short-term counseling and facilitated groups focusing on navigating the challenges of adolescence. She then completed her clinical fieldwork at a Children’s Mobile Crisis Team, conducting crisis mental health assessments and providing advocacy services and short-term therapy. Jennie also has experience in outdoor education, supporting LGBTQ+ youth and youth with additional support needs.
Jennie approaches advocacy and the therapeutic process using a client-centered approach that aims to uplift and empower individuals to make the best choices for them. Jennie is passionate about creating space for each client to share their story and providing trauma-informed care to those seeking services from OVA.
