Taste of Home | Stan’s One-Pot Chili

Why they submitted this recipe: This is the recipe our family always asks for when we are all together. It brings back memories of home and is a very easy to make comfort food for our family.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil Medium yellow onion diced
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 16 oz can dark red kidney beans, drained
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Pour olive oil to large stock pot, add diced onions and heat about 5-minutes over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef to the pot and cook until the beef is browned, stirring occasionally.
  3. Pour drained kidney beans and can of tomato sauce to the pot.
  4. Stir in chili powder to the mixture.
  5. Bring all ingredients to a simmer, then cover and allow to simmer 35-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  • Top with shredded cheese
  • Serve over white rice
  • Serve with corn bread
