- ASCE has honored Kimberly Pugel as a 2021 New Face of Civil Engineering. Pugel’s work combines environmental engineering, planning, policymaking, and a heavy dose of communication skills, particularly as it relates to facilitating communication between stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Environmental Engineering graduating student Selena Hinojos honored Outstanding Undergraduate for Service by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
- Environmental Engineering graduating student Peter Heller honored Outstanding Undergraduate Overall by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
- Professor R. Scott Summers was awarded the 2020 Charles R. O’Melia Distinguished Educator Award by the Association of Environmental Engineering & Science Professors (AEESP).
- Environmental engineering major Keani Willebrand has earned a prestigious Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation (NSF).Â
- PhD candidate Matthew Bentley was recently recognized as the top student presenter at the Emerging Contaminants Summit 2020. In addition, Bentley was awarded an honorable mention for the Figueroa Family Fellowship, which recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to the achievement of a diverse student body.
- Karl Linden has been selected to receive the Borchardt-Glysson Water Treatment Innovation Prize.
- Environmental engineering student Priscilla Jimenez was named the fall 2019 Outstanding Graduate for Service by the College of Engineering & Applied Science!Â
- A team of researchers led by Professor Evan Thomas, director of the Mortenson Center in Global Engineering, has been awarded a three-year, $660,000 grant by NASA to join the SERVIR Applied Sciences Team, a joint venture between NASA and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
