Seanna Leath examines how cultural and ecological factors shape the positive development of Black youth and young adults, with a particular emphasis on gender and racial dynamics. Her research centers on the lived experiences of Black women and girls, grounding their beliefs and behaviors within broader historical, sociocultural and policy contexts.

As the founder and leader of the Fostering Healthy Identities and Resilience (FHIRE) Collaborative, Leath heads a diverse team of undergraduate and graduate researchers and community partners. Together, they are committed to promoting the health and well-being of Black women and girls through innovative and collaborative approaches.
