Nancy Knowlton is a distinguished marine scientist and author ofÌýCitizens of the Sea. Her research on coral sensitivity to high temperatures and the use of molecular techniques has reshaped understanding of ocean biodiversity.

A former professor at Yale and UC San Diego, where she founded the Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, Knowlton also held key roles at the Smithsonian. She spearheaded initiatives like the #OceanOptimism campaign and Earth Optimism to highlight successful conservation stories.
