Louis L. Reed is a leading advocate in social impact, specializing in government, criminal justice reform, policy advocacy and public health. Having spent nearly 14 years in federal prison, Reed’s leadership led to the passage of over 30 state and federal bills, including the landmark First Step Act in 2018, benefiting over 650,000 people affected by the criminal justice system.
Reed previously served as senior director of strategic partnerships for REFORM Alliance and director of membership and organizing for Dream Corps Justice. He also established Connecticut’s first government-based reentry office in Bridgeport, which became a model for several cities and earned a U.S. Conference of Mayors award.
An award-winning author and commentator, Reed is a licensed addictions practitioner, criminal justice reform consultant and consulting producer for Hulu’sÌýUnPrisoned series. He was named amongÌýLA Weekly’s 2023 Top 5 People to Follow and has received numerous accolades for his work.
