Laura Marciano is a research associate at the Lee Kum Sheung Center for Health and Happiness at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She leads research on digital media and well-being, including the HappyB projects funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. Her work explores the impact of smartphone and social media use on teen well-being using innovative methods like trace data and digital biomarkers.

Marciano earned her PhD in health communication from USI (Università della Svizzera Italiana), where her thesis on digital media use and personality was named the best doctoral dissertation in social sciences by the Italian Embassy in Bern. She also holds degrees in psychology and cognitive neuroscience from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.

An advocate for science communication, Marciano is a board member of the IBSA Foundation for Scientific Research and the author ofÌýSmartphone: Ally or Enemy? She also leads Happiness2.0, a project translating her research into practical activities combining arts and science.
