I started Mothers for Nuclear with my coworker and good friend Kristin Zaitz on Earth Day in 2016. When we learned that our company planned to NOT renew the license for Diablo Canyon, we started researching the basis for that decision. As a result, we discovered that not only is this the wrong decision for humanitarian and environmental reasons, but nuclear plants across the country and the world may be under similar threat. Anti-nuclear propaganda and unfair economic policies are both working against nuclear, which happens to be one of the most vital tools we have to combat climate change, protect humanity from air pollution, and raise our quality of life by providing clean and reliable power to more people.
