Sonia DeLuca Fernández biography

Sonia DeLuca Fernández serves CU ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ as the university’s senior vice chancellor for leadership support and programming. She reports to the chancellor and is charged with providing strategic direction for creating and supporting campus environments where everyone matters and all can thrive. 

Leadership Support and Programming provides services to campus leaders (e.g., planning, assessment, communications) to help advance the chancellor’s priorities; builds capacity in leadership in the areas of access, opportunity, and engagement to address disparate outcomes, myriad experiences and needs; sponsors and supports initiatives needed to build community and create connections for employees; provides leadership for assessing campus environments and applying data-informed approaches to organizational development; and provides resources (e.g., funding, materials, consultations) for new or existing programs focused on improving campus environments.

DeLuca Fernández earned a doctorate of philosophy in higher education from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in social foundations of education and a bachelor’s degree in African American studies, both from the University of Iowa.
