Sabbatical Application Declined or Voided in DocuSign
Overview
In some cases, a sabbatical application that has been routed for signatures in DocuSign may be declined by an approver (dean of division, institute director, etc.) This may occur for any number of reasons, but it does not mean that the sabbatical application is unable to proceed.ÌýA sabbatical that has been declined may be updated and re-sent for approval in the same cycle; there is no penalty for resubmitting an application within the cycle if needed. This is a normal part of the process for many applicants, and it results in a stronger final document presented to the Board of Regents for their assent.ÌýÌý
The approver who declined your application will typically provide a note with enough specific information to address the reasons for their rejection of the application, but if you have specific follow-up questions please feel free to reach out to them. However, they will not be able to assist you with the actual rerouting of your application. The rerouting of your application is handled by the Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office Faculty Affairs team, not the campus Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) or your department/institute. Please feel free to reach out to cas-faculty@colorado.edu with questions about the re-routing process.ÌýÌý
Process
The CAS Faculty Affairs coordinator assigned to your sabbatical application will reach out with specific instructions on how to proceed once an application has been declined in DocuSign. Typically, this will involve making updates to your sabbatical application that address the reasons that someone declined to sign the original document, and providing the updated answers to the coordinator. When possible, shortly after the application has been denied, the CAS Faculty Affairs coordinator will provide you with the original text of your application as a basis for editing; however, keeping your own digital copy of your original responses will make this process much easier for you. If the changes to your application are substantive and in turn require updates from your department chair, you do not need to solicit those updates independently – that process will be handled by the CAS Faculty Affairs coordinator. Once you have worked with the coordinator to update your responses, they will route the updated version of your application for signatures in DocuSign. From there, your application will proceed in the same manner as it originally did.ÌýÌý
